Character

create a character!

Build one character and the scenes they show up in. Fill in who they are, a few sample lines in their voice, and the situations players can drop into. Author the card with the intent of the player playing as themselves.

Silly Tavern V2 cards welcome, upload one and we will auto-map a few fields to help you get started.

Write the character, not the rules.You don’t need system prompts, formatting instructions, or lines like "don’t speak for the user." mi·do·na’s engine handles all of that.

Persona

Tell us about your character. Where are they from? What do they look like? What do they love, what do they destest? How do they act? Use {{char}} to refer to them. Focus on the character, not their relationship with {{user}}

Voice

Write several sample turns in {{char}}'s voice. Try to write how you want them to act and speak, including how they interact with {{user}}. The model leans on these to sound like them. Mixing samples with long samples can help with variety.

Lorebook

A bag of holding for detail that doesn't shape how {{char}} behaves, but has to be right when it comes up — a sister's name, a hometown, an old job. Tag each entry with the trigger words that should pull it in; when one of them shows up in the story, the entry gets handed to the model for that turn.

Situations

What kind of situation do you want to put your characters in? Each sets up the relationship between {{char}} and {{user}}, and gives {{char}} an opening turn.

Set up the story for {{char}} and {{user}}. Where are they? How do they feel about each other? What's their relationship?

This is how your story starts! Write first thing {{char}} says or does, in their voice. Give {{user}} something to respond to.
